Personal Training/Physical Therapy
As a Physical Therapist, with over 25 years in the fitness field, and a background in orthopedic and sports Physical Therapy, I can help you to overcome obstacles that have been hampering your performance or keeping you from reaching your personal fitness goals. I can take you beyond where traditional Physical Therapy leaves off. I can show you how to be effective in your training, how to avoid aggravating existing problems, and how to address issues that might be keeping these problems from resolving.
If you chose the individual training sessions, your program will begin with a careful assessment of your strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and movement patterns. Based on your results and your own personal fitness goals, an individualized exercise program will be designed for you. Together, we will work to achieve your aspirations.
Small Group training is an option for people who enjoy working out with friends or would like to train with 1 to 3 other exercisers who have similar fitness goals. Individualized fitness and performance goals will also be addressed.
I offer Personal and Small Group training in the areas listed below:

Nordic Walking Lessons
Nordic Walking is a hot new international activity, originating in the mid-1990's when Nordic (cross country) skiers in Finland started using Nordic ski poles as a way to train in the off-season. A scientific study conducted by the Cooper Institute in Texas and published in 2002 reported that when comparing Nordic Walking with fitness walking at the same pace, caloric expenditure increased an average of 20%, with as much as a 46% increase in some cases, without any increase in rate of perceived exertion.
Nordic Walking, in addition to being an excellent aerobic activity and lower body exercise, works the upper body and core muscles, while reducing impact and stress on the back, hips, knees, and feet. This makes it a perfect cross-training tool for runners and cyclists. It also increases stability and safety. Individuals who can no longer safely walk in challenging terrain find themselves once again able to enjoy hills and beaches. Nordic Walking can be a social activity enjoyed with friends and family. Anyone can work out almost anywhere, anytime.
